Most Richmond Hill homes are 1980s onward: full stone or stone-and-stucco fronts, front-facing gables, dormers, bay projections and a garage that steps forward of the main wall.
An elevation like that can have ten to fourteen separate roof segments. The cheap way to light it is a run along the bottom edge that ignores everything above, which is why so many installs read as one bright line and nothing else. The right way is to follow the gable rakes up and back down so the shape of the house is what you see at night. That takes more track and more time, and we quote it both ways so the difference is a decision rather than a surprise.
Bayview Hill, South Richvale and the larger Oak Ridges lots add scale: long frontages, three-car garages and landscaping that deserves lighting as much as the roofline. Mill Pond and the older streets near Yonge are smaller, older houses where a single clean run is usually right. Full stone fronts anywhere in town take grazing fixtures very well — set tight to the wall so the texture reads.
