Permanent lighting
in Ajax.

A town that started as wartime housing and grew north in waves. Post-war storey-and-a-halfs by the lake, 1980s back-splits in the middle, and new two-storeys up past Taunton — with Pickering Village's older streets tucked in at the east end.

Low rooflines in the south, gables in the north

Ajax splits cleanly by age. The further north you go the newer the house, the taller the elevation and the more roof segments there are to decide about.

South Ajax is where the low rooflines are. The post-war houses near the lake and the 1970s and 80s bungalows and back-splits through the middle of town mean short runs and little or no work at height, and those jobs commonly land well under a comparable two-storey. Older aluminium fascia is common here, so we find the wood sub-fascia behind it and fasten into that rather than the cladding.

Northwest and Northeast Ajax are the opposite: 2000s-onward two-storeys with brick or stone fronts, projecting garages and two or three front gables. Straight builder fascia installs quickly, but the elevation is shared with the rest of the street, so we quote the gable rakes separately and let you see what following the geometry adds. Along the waterfront, exposed elevations get lake-wind detailing as standard.

  • Bungalows quote lowerNo lift and little work at height means fewer crew hours — a straight single-storey roofline is the cheapest job we do.
  • Old aluminium fascia handledWe fasten into the wood sub-fascia behind it, so the aluminium carries no load and does not deform.
  • Gable rakes priced separatelyOn a north-end two-storey you see outlined and architectural side by side before you decide.
  • Waterfront spacing tightenedLake-facing elevations get closer fasteners and an expansion gap at every track joint.

Ajax questions

Answered

Our house is a bungalow. Is permanent lighting still worth it?

Often more so. A single-storey roofline is a short run with no work at height, so the total is lower, and because the eave is close to eye level the light reads strongly from the street and the driveway. It is the best value-per-dollar job we do.

The fascia is the old aluminium wrap. Can you mount to it?

We mount through it into the wood sub-fascia behind, not to the aluminium itself. That way the cladding carries no load and does not dent or pull away, and every penetration is sealed. It is one of the most common fascia types we see in south and central Ajax.

We are close to the lake. What changes?

Fastener spacing comes in on the exposed elevations so no span can flutter, each track joint gets an expansion gap so the aluminium can move through freeze-thaw, and connectors are threaded, sealed and seated facing downward. The pixels are IP68 and rated to −40 °C before any of that.

Can you light a storefront or plaza unit as well?

Yes. Sign bands, fascia and canopy lighting on commercial frontage run on the same hardware and the same app, with schedules set around your opening hours. Commercial quotes are itemised the same way residential ones are.
