Ottawa is not one housing type. What we quote in Nepean and what we quote in Kanata are different projects, and the number on the page reflects that rather than a per-foot rate applied blindly.
West and south — Nepean, Bells Corners, Craig Henry, Greely — is where the low rooflines are. A bungalow or side-split means short runs and no work at height, and those jobs commonly land 25 to 35 percent under a comparable two-storey. Kanata, Stittsville and the newer Orléans phases are the opposite: stone-front elevations with ten to fourteen separate roof segments, where following the gable rakes rather than just the bottom edge is what makes it look architectural instead of outlined.
The core is its own problem. Centretown, the Glebe, Sandy Hill and New Edinburgh are brick and stone, often in a heritage conservation district, frequently with no driveway and a lane you cannot get a truck down. We fasten into mortar joints, never the brick face, we check your address against its designation before quoting, and we plan the access at the site visit rather than on install morning.
Roofline is the bulk of what we do here. Smart control upgrades come second — a lot of Ottawa properties already have low-voltage lighting worth pulling onto one controller — and Bank, Elgin, Preston and Wellington West keep the commercial side busy.

It is the climate the system was specified for. The pixels are sealed to IP68 and rated to −40 °C, the connectors are threaded and watertight rather than push-fit, and the roofline runs on 24 V DC. The real test here is not cold, it is freeze-thaw — roughly forty cycles a winter — which is why we leave expansion gaps at track joints instead of butting the runs tight. Aluminium moves; track that cannot move buckles.
No, and it is extremely common across the 1980s re-clad belt west of Woodroffe. We locate the wood sub-fascia behind the cladding and fasten into that, so the aluminium carries no load and does not deform. Every penetration is sealed.
Yes. We work year-round in Ottawa. The limiting factors are snow load and roof ice rather than temperature, so a mid-winter install gets scheduled around the weather rather than around the calendar. For lights up before December, book by mid-September to be safe.
Usually still possible. Reversible, non-destructive lighting fastened into mortar joints is a far easier case to make than most exterior work, and we check your address against its designation before quoting so you know the approval path up front rather than halfway through.
