Village, lakefront and farmland

Newcastle is small, but it holds three very different kinds of property within a few minutes of each other, and we plan each one differently.

The village streets around King Avenue are older brick and frame, some of it well over a century old. Brick is fastened through mortar joints only, original trim is left alone, and we check heritage status before we quote. The newer subdivisions north and west of the village are builder two-storeys and bungalows with clean fascia — quick installs where the main decision is how much of the roofline to follow.

Port of Newcastle, Bond Head and the lakeshore streets are open to Lake Ontario, so exposed elevations get tighter fastener spacing, an expansion gap at every joint and sealed connectors facing downward. Out toward Orono, Newtonville and Kendal it is acreage: long single-storey runs, detached garages and barns that can often share the house controller, and a power plan built around where the panel actually is.

Newcastle questions

Answered

We are right on the lake at Port of Newcastle. Will it survive the wind?

Yes, with the right detailing. Open lakefront gets tighter fastener spacing so no span can flutter, an expansion gap at every track joint, and threaded sealed connectors seated facing downward. The pixels are IP68 and rated to −40 °C.

We live in a community with exterior rules. Can we still do it?

Usually. Permanent lighting is low-profile and colour-matched to the trim, so in daylight it reads as a shadow line. Where an association or land-lease community approves exterior changes, we provide the product spec sheets and a mounting detail for the application and schedule the install once it is approved.

Can you light the barn and the lane as well as the house?

Often, yes. Outbuildings and driveway or post lighting can join the same controller where we can get a clean low-voltage run to them. If the distance is too long, we will price a separate controller at the site visit rather than guess.

We are on a well and septic. Does that matter?

Only for where we route cable and set the transformer. The system runs on low-voltage 24 V DC and draws very little. We locate the septic bed and well line at the site visit so nothing goes near either.
